When I got to preschool drop off the next day, our other preschool teacher asked me if I did weddings. I didn't catch on right away, but with a little help, I finally put it together...my preschool teachers (who have been best friends for years) had kids that were going to get engaged soon!! I was so excited for them. They are truly living the best friend dream. Every set of best friends talk about theirs kids getting married someday, it's the ultimate best friend goal (right after being each others Maid of Honor, and living next door to each other when you grow up).

After a day of thinking on it, I went back to them and said, "I still don't do wedding, but what about letting me help with the proposal?" I have been drooling over these couple sessions where the man proposes and the photographer is able to capture it all. So I mentioned this, I could put out a fake model call and they could push their kids to do it...I need couple images for my portfolio, and they needed a ruse to have a cute setup....it was a win/win. But then the idea morphed in to doing it in the upcoming Light up the Night parade. The plan was set and away we went, working and scheming.

My model call went live and I unexpectedly got a ton of interest, luckily I have a ton of ideas and sets that I want to shoot that I just needed models for, so look for those coming soon.

So last night was the night. The proposal went smoothly (seriously the cutest thing ever!)...and she said YES! The shoot was super fast (I had 15 minute to shoot before we had hook up and move out) and I was extremely limited on what poses I could do, and what angles I could shoot from. But I got THE shot, and some shots I had been wanting to try. My "models" were perfection!!

On to the parade!

This parade is our communities annual Christmas kick off parade. It's an amazing parade where everyone stands out in the freezing cold (after the sun goes down) to watch the most amazing floats covered in lights and get their Christmas spirit on. The weather was horrible all day yesterday, but died down to just being windy for the parade. I was nervous for more snow so my plans of shooting photos during the parade went out the window, any sort of cover we tried quickly blew away or was too hard to hold on to. Plus my girls really wanted to walk and pass out candy and I didn't feel comfortable being on the float while they were walking.

The best laid plans, right? Ha!

Then about half way through the parade our generator quit working so our lights slowly started blinking, and then went out completely! Nothing quite like being in a light parade and having a mostly dark float. And to add insult to injury, we ran out of candy! We were able to pass out many high fives, and a lot of "Merry Christmas"s. I really appreciate our community. I could not believe how many people came out for the parade, and how many were so supportive of us and our lack of lights. The Christmas spirit was felt, and it was the perfect way to kick off this holiday season!!
